Each year, Thanksgiving kicks off a season of celebration as the holidays typically bring together loved ones from across the nation. But as many Americans opt not to travel this holiday season, \u201chome for the holidays\u201d takes on a whole new meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/em> estimates<\/a> that the average American will travel just 513 miles this Thanksgiving, a decrease of more than 50 percent from 2019. With fewer consumers packing their bags, Thanksgiving might get a bit more personal than years past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staying home for the holidays doesn\u2019t mean Thanksgiving can\u2019t be just as meaningful. On the contrary, the decrease in travel opens the door for many to tackle the big feast and recreate time-honored traditions in their own unique way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For some, that may mean whipping up beloved holiday recipes<\/a> \u201cjust like momma makes it.\u201d For others, a smaller-scale Thanksgiving centerpiece, such as a bone-in breast<\/a> or turkey breast roulade<\/a>, may be in the cards (and, may we say, equally delicious).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual gatherings may also see an uptick as loved ones, determined to celebrate together, find ways to connect despite travel limitations. If \u201cZoomsgiving\u201d is more your speed, we\u2019ve got just the game<\/a> to share with your family and friends\u2026or enjoy all by yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those opting to travel this season are encouraged to follow local health guidance and review food safety tips for traveling<\/a> to keep loved ones safe. Whether that means smaller, spaced-out gatherings or self-isolating post travel, keep in mind that Thanksgiving doesn\u2019t have to be limited to one day of the year.
