Know what recipe your preparing and size of turkey you will need. If you want <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatturkey.org\/leftovers\/\">plenty of leftovers<\/a>, plan for 1.25-1.5. pounds of turkey per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re buying a frozen turkey, get it in advance. We recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatturkey.org\/2020\/11\/19\/time-to-brine-your-turkey\/\">taking this extra step<\/a>. You won&#8217;t regret it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. <em>Don&#8217;t overcook the turkey!<\/em> Keep that turkey tender by using a meat thermometer to make sure your turkey reaches a safe internal temperature of 165\u00b0F. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatturkey.org\/thermometer-guidelines\/\">Our guide<\/a> can help you use this handy tool to determine if your turkey is ready for the table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And a few more for good measure&#8230; <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Try cooking your turkey breast down to help keep the meat moist and tender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start the roasting process with your turkey breast tented with foil. Remove the foil for the last half of cooking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need a little bit more than one turkey?
